Dr. Eric Cai earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, DC. Prior to earning his law degree, he received his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Peking University, China. Holding a professional law degree and a hard science degree from the most prestigious universities in the United States and China, Dr. Cai has acquired the knowledge and expertise to provide a full range of legal services in a manner rarely matched by other law firms. In 2008, Dr. Cai participated in editing and rewriting a major article regarding intellectual property crimes, which was later published in a special issue of the American Criminal Law Review.

He has considerable knowledge of the guidelines for hiring, visa applications, visa transfer, and immigration petition processes, especially for international applicants and research scholars. He is also well-versed in legal matters involving application and license of patents for research institutions, technology transfers, and other related IP practices.

His interest in immigration law stems from his personal experience as an immigrant from China, as well as from his experience in helping other Chinese scholars applying for their permanent residency in the United States. Prior to his career in law, Dr. Cai worked for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he received his own Green Card through the National Interest Waiver (NIW) program. His NIH research focused on biochemistry and molecular biology, and concentrated more specifically on cancer research, airborne pollutants, DNA damages, and DNA polymerases. Dr. Wei Wang is a Senior Technology Specialist with New Weiming Law Group. An accomplished researcher and organic chemist, Dr. Wang prepared his own EB-1A petition for U.S. permanent residency and received approval in 2015.

Dr. Wang received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University. He continued his interests in chemistry and earned several masters degrees in the fields of structural chemistry and natural product synthesis from Peking University and Indiana University. He obtained his PhD in organic chemistry from Indiana University Bloomington. After receiving her M.A., she worked for a CPA firm in the United States as a tax accountant and passed the section "Regulation" of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Recently, Ms. Sha became certified as a Commonwealth of Virginia Notary Public.

Because of her excellent academic record in graduate school, she was selected for honorary life membership with Beta Gamma Sigma, one of the highest International Honor Societies of Business. During her studies in Germany, she achieved the distinction of "Outstanding Bachelor Thesis Award". She also interned with the Allianz Group, one of the world's largest financial services companies, and provided advice and assistance to many local and overseas Chinese students in Germany.

With a rich international background and broad multilingual fluency (Chinese, English and German), the ability to write and edit, she is contributing her talents to New Weiming's valuable work.

MS. SABRINA

Sabrina is an incoming student at MIT planning to major in computational biology. In high school, Sabrina was involved with various biology research programs and competitions, giving her a thorough understanding of the scientific research process. Sabrina’s research at the NIH focused on novel therapies for brain cancer, and has been recognized through both journal publications and national science fair awards. Additionally, Sabrina was one of 20 students nationwide recognized as a finalist in the USA Biology Olympiad competition, and she also placed in the top 16 of the UToronto Biology Competition 2 years in a row. Eager to spread her own passion for science, she has also led mentoring programs for younger students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

MS. ISABELLA

Isabella is an incoming student at the University of Chicago. She has contributed to cancer-research projects and co-authored a paper regarding chemical analysis of sunburns which has been published in an international journal. She was among the top 150 students recognized on the US National Chemistry Olympiad Honors List, and this award, along with her research and lab-based courses, have further developed her skills in research and understanding of technical terminology. She has served as a writing tutor for the past three years, and also worked with the Richmond Public Library as a book judge, further developing her interest and abilities in professional writing and research.

MS. ALAINA GEORGE - WRITING SPECIALIST
MS. ALAINA GEORGE

Alaina George graduated from the George Washington University (GWU) in Washington D.C., earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, minoring in History, with concentrations in Security Policy and the Middle East from the nationally ranked Elliott School of International Affairs. Ms. George, a native English speaker with extensive writing and editing experience, studied Persian and received a Certificate of Excellence in Persian Language Study during her studies at GWU. She also achieved basic proficiency in Turkish and Spanish.

Before joining New Weiming Law Group, Alaina interned on Capitol Hill working in the office of Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) U.S. House of Representatives. In this capacity, she assisted Legislative Assistants transcribing notes and relaying information on current affairs from business and security policy hearings to Congressman Kinzinger and his staff. She sat in on meetings with the constituents, compiled news articles on the Congressman for distribution to district offices, and led content production of social media strategy.

While interning at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., she worked in the International Division specifically with the TurkMENA (Turkey, Middle East, North Africa), GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council), Iraq, and Bahrain Councils. Alaina participated in and provided extensive support for prominent events where Foreign Ministers, Ambassadors, CEO’s, and other officials and representatives were in attendance. She researched and analyzed developments in TurkMENA’s economic policy, prepared background briefs, sector updates, press releases, and official correspondence, and researched activities of current and potential member companies and foundations.

Alaina is dedicated to public service. While attending college, she was a member of the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, where she developed effective leadership skills and promoted fellowship among her peers. Among her major achievements in this endeavor, she volunteered her time to help survivors of human trafficking now living in the Washington, D.C. area.

MS. KAYLA YOON - WRITING AND MARKETING SPECIALIST
MS. KAYLA YOON

Ms. Kayla Yoon, a native of Seoul and fluent in Korean, graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a Bachelor of Science in Culture and Politics, with a focus on Human Rights and Multiculturalism. Through her studies, internships, and travels, Kayla has developed a significant interest in immigration policy and current affairs.

During her undergraduate study, Kayla was involved with a variety of immigration issues, including a focus on immigrant justice and the varied experiences of immigrants settling in the United States. Multilingual, Kayla worked as a temporary Spanish interviewer for a Georgetown Professor to assess the relationship between school resources and Spanish immigrant students’ school performance in a local high school. She also assisted with language classes and citizenship interviews at CARECEN, a DC-based non-profit for Spanish-speaking immigrants. Her interest in immigrant justice expanded to talent-based immigration, which culminated in research assessing the impact of the H-1B visa on American workers. She is applying her Korean and other language skills and familiarity with immigration issues to her work at New Weiming Law Group.

At Georgetown, Kayla was also active in North Korean human rights advocacy and served as co- president for Georgetown’s student organization, Truth and Human Rights in North Korea. Her two internships in Seoul and Washington D.C. were devoted to the same issue, where she engaged with North Korean defectors and policymakers to advocate for North Korean citizens. In April 2016, she accompanied Ji Seong-ho, a renowned North Korean defector, to an international conference to promote the cause of Asian human rights activists.

MS. HEWEI LI, LL.M. - MARKETING SPECIALIST

Ms. Hewei Li earned her Master’s degree of Law from Boston University and Bachelor’s degree in Law from China’s University of Geosciences (Beijing).

Before starting her LLM program at Boston University, Ms. Li not only passed the Chinese bar exam, but also successfully completed internships at the Dentons Law Firm and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), where she developed valuable legal and analytical skills. During her internships, she worked closely with experienced attorneys in the corporate department learning how to handle and analyze client cases and address client’s concerns. She also prepared drafts of key legal documents, participated in ongoing Mergers & Acquisition work and served as a translator and interpreter employing her English skills.

As an LLM student, Ms. Li completed courses in Immigration, Corporate, Intellectual Property, and Entertainment Law at Boston University. Following graduation, she completed a three-month internship with a major Boston based law firm specializing in corporate law. With her extensive academic background in law and experience in Boston, Ms. Li assists NWM in the Boston and greater New England region supporting current cases and educating potential clients regarding our services.
